Chester Jobs Market Booming!
Axis Recruitment, a recruitment agency based in the centre of Chester, has achieved record growth figures with a 100% increase in turnover compared to this time last year.
Whist the job market in many parts of the country is struggling from the economic downturn, things are certainly looking up in Chester, according to one of the city’s fastest-growing recruitment agencies.
Glen Walsh, Managing Director at Axis, which specialises in temporary, contract and permanent vacancies within the commercial sector, said: “We’ve never been so busy. Local employers are sending us new roles every day and it’s a pleasure to be able to send them potential candidates from Chester’s skilled workforce.
“Everything’s looking good for Chester at the moment and it’s exciting for us to be a part of it.”
Axis has further underlined its success by winning a major recruitment contract with one of the UK’s largest employers – HSBC.
Axis will now be working with the high street bank, helping to fill all their temporary positions on a national basis.
Glen added: “Our success certainly paints a positive image of the employment market in Chester.
“The number of jobs available within the commercial sector is rising constantly and we are certainly very optimistic about the future. Our success with HSBC is a credit to our ability to provide quality candidates on both a local and national level.”

Some areas of the country may still be reporting negative effects from the economic downturn, and shortages in the local jobs market, but things are certainly looking up in Chester, according to one of the city’s fastest-growing recruitment agencies.
Axis Recruitment, based in the centre of Chester and spear-headed by Managing Director Glen Walsh, have recorded record growth figures and are 100% up in comparison to this time last year.
Axis have underlined their success this Summer by winning a major recruitment contract with a huge employer – HSBC. Axis Recruitment will now be working with the high street bank on all of their temporary positions on a national basis.
In terms of permanent positions, Walsh has looked to strengthen his hand by recruiting Nicola Forshaw from another of Chester’s recruitment firms, who will head the permanent recruitment desk at Axis.
Walsh has said of this appointment: “Nicola joins us with over 15 years of recruitment experience, with 10 of those years in the local area. We’re very excited to bring on board such a high calibre of consultant and we’re looking forward to the prospect of Nicola working with our local clients.”
The success of Glen and his team paints a positive image of the employment market in Chester, where the number of jobs available is on the constant rise and Walsh is optimistic about the future:

This summer, the Managing Director of Axis Recruitment is gathering his friends to take part in a very special hike, in order to raise much-needed money for charitable causes.
On the 4th of July 2011, Glen Walsh of Axis Recruitment will be leaving the comfort and warmth of his desk behind in order to attempt the National Three Peaks Challenge, which involves scaling the three highest mountains in Britain: Scaffell Pike (978m), Snowdon (1085m) and Ben Nevis (1344m), in just 24 hours!
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves a total of around 26 miles of mountain ascent and descent, plus 465 miles of travel in between.
But Glen won’t be facing this gruelling task alone. The head of the Chester-based recruitment company will be joined by six of his closest friends. Together, they will be attempting to climb to the top of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just one day. It proves likely to be a gruelling task, so why are Glen and his friends putting themselves through it?
Glen, plus Gary O’Reilly, Peter Heaney, Dave Dennehy, Mark Abbott, Lee Lynch, Robin Crimes and Darren Adams, also known as ‘The Chester Boys,’ are taking part in the National Three Peaks Challenge in order to raise funds for several charitable organisations.
• Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey (registered charity No. 1008765)
• Claire House Children’s Hospice (registered charity No. 1004058)
• Hospice of the Good Shepherd (registered charity No. 515516)
• Cancer Research UK (registered charity No. 1089464)
• Leukemia & Lymphoma Research (registered charity No. 216032)
All of these good causes will benefit from the money raised by the Chester Boys, who are also being supported by Axis Recruitment.
By taking part in this potentially exhausting excursion, Glen and his team of intrepid mountaineers will be helping sick children and adults, plus their families to live in relative comfort, and help towards groundbreaking research that aims to stamp out these dreadful diseases once and for all.
The Chester Boys will be starting their quest at the base of Ben Nevis in Western Scotland, before moving onto Scafell Pike in Northern England and ending at the base of Snowdon, in North Western Wales.
With the invaluable support of their friends, families, local Chester businesses, including Axis Recruitment plus many of the wonderful general public, Glen and his friends aim to raise a significant amount of money for their five chosen charities.
Axis Recruitment would like to wish Glen and the Chester Boys all the very best of luck and success with their mission, and to wish them all a very speedy recovery upon their return from what is sure to be a physically testing 24 hours. Photographic evidence of their National Three Peaks Challenge attempt will be posted on the Axis Recruitment website as soon as Glen is returned safely back to us.
If you would like to make a donation towards the Chester Boys’ National Three Peaks Challenge attempt, you can do so online by visiting http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/threepeakschesterboys or you can call Glen Walsh of Axis Recruitment on 01244 404 800 for more information.
